It is an honour to join the Academy of HRD as its Director, and I look forward to carrying forward the good work of my predecessor, Mr. K.K. Verma. I thought I’d share with you some of the initiatives that I would like to implement during my term as Director, and invite your support in making them happen:
Ø Define / augment, and execute a research agenda for the Academy of HRD, and explore industry, government, education and development sector HRD research and consulting opportunities.
Ø Promote research collaborations with leading institutions in India and abroad, and explore joint M. Phil and Ph.D. degrees for our Associate and Fellow students.
Ø Add value to the HR fraternity through conferences & conclaves, niche management development programs, industry meets etc. focused on learning and networking opportunities backed by HR research.
Ø Digitize and augment the Academy of HRD’s Intellectual Property / Body of Knowledge, develop new media products besides books (i.e. Audio CDs and videos, MP3 downloads etc.) and make them available online, as well as through a new publishing initiative: The Academy of HRD Press. (A first step in this direction has already been taken with an Appreciative Inquiry movie that the Academy of HRD has produced in partnership with ISABS, which shall shortly be available for sale on CD as well as a download on our website. A link to a free 5 minute snippet of the Appreciative Inquiry movie is available in this newsletter, and can be viewed on our website: http://www.academyofhrd.org
Ø Implement regular in-service trainings for all Academy of HRD staff to continuously upgrade competencies and build a learning organization.
Ø Institute a lecture series in memory of Dr. Udai Pareek at the Academy.
Ø Create a development fund to build the Academy’s infrastructure facilities.
My colleagues and I at the Academy of HRD look forward to interacting with you at conclaves and seminars across the country, during research collaborations and consultancy assignments, as well as at our facilities in Ahmedabad!
With all good wishes,
Imon
