| | | Future Search | | | The Academy in collaboration with T. V. Rao Learning Systems Private Limited, had the opportunity to organize a training for facilitators in Future Search, an experience-based non-residential workshop with Marvin Weisbord and Sandra Janoff - renowned organization consultants.
Future search is a structured planning meeting that makes possible actions once thought beyond reach in large, diverse groups. These include projects and programs based on new forms of cooperation devised by participants. In future search, people explore their past, present and future, confirm mutual values and commit to action grounded in reality. A shared future scenario and implementation plans are usual outcomes.
This method has been used by hundreds of corporations, communities, schools and colleges, non-profit and voluntary organizations. The future search is adaptable to many complex activities not easily managed by traditional means. | | | | For instance: |
Creating a shared vision and action plans among diverse parties who have never worked together. |
Implementing a vision that already exists. |
Initiating rapid action on complex issues of housing, manufacturing, education, health care, employment and transportation. |
| | | The future search conferences are task focused, use no expert speakers, involve diverse groups crossing many boundaries, are largely self-managed and aim for dialogue and reality based learning. They bring together a diverse cross section of ‘stakeholders’, often strangers or people with a history of conflict to explore common ground rather than conflicts or problems. | | |
