SOCIAL
SECTOR
Academy’s association with the NGO sector dates back to 1994 when we had established the Social
Development Cell (SDC) as a small NGO cell with the mandate of “strengthening of institutional renewal
capabilities of organizations involved in development action”. The mission of SDC
being - “To facilitate
development of people in Voluntary Agencies through learning from experiences of each other”
Achievements
We have achieved the following milestones in our endeavor:
 |
The release of three issues of the journal “Renewal”. |
 |
Two monographs “Training Needs of NGOs”
and “Competencies for Successful Careers in NGOs”. |
 |
A book “Organizational Renewal in NGOs”. |
One of our major project in this sector has been the ‘Organizational Renewal for NGOs in Development Action (ORENGODA) which was funded by Evangelische Zentralstelle Fiir Entwicklungshilfe e.v, (EZE), Germany. Under this project, hundreds of NGOs gained awareness about the renewal processes in their own organizations. This project has resulted in the publication of the book `Organizational Renewal in NGOs.’
Academy has conducted
In-House Training programmes on Team Building & Value
Clarification for Oxfam GB, Ahmedabad. This intervention
was done based on the belief that an organisation can
achieve it's objectives more effectively through
clarifying values and team building within the
organisation.
Themes
We have conducted various workshops for NGOs and our themes have covered a diverse range of issues. Some of them being – HRD needs of NGOs, HRD Planning, HRD orientation, Succession planning in NGOs, Large-scale interactive process (LSIP) technology, Performance management and effectiveness, Organizational development in NGOs, Monitoring and Evaluation of Organizational Development.
